A message to all first-graders entering the new school year:

 

Abiko Doin will be holding a Shorinji Kempo Parent-Child Experience Session on Saturday, January 17, Saturday, February 7, and Saturday, March 7, 2026.

(All sessions are from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM)

 

Although we're "soon to be first-graders," we welcome not only new elementary school students, but also junior high school students, high school students, university students, and working adults!
Of course, students other than first-year students are welcome, and parents are welcome to join in with their children.

 

As you prepare for your new life, practice Shorinji Kempo to build a strong body,

a strong mind, and good fortune.

 

Good luck is essential to surviving in the coming era.

 

There's an anecdote about how Konosuke Matsushita, known as the "god of business," would ask "Are you lucky?" during job interviews and hire anyone who answered "Yes, I am."

This was based on the philosophy that luck isn't something you're born with, but something you can "create" through your mindset and actions.

 

Also, Heihachiro Togo, the naval commander during the Russo-Japanese War, was selected for the position because Navy Minister Gonbei Yamamoto said, "Togo is a lucky man." Therefore, he reported this to Emperor Meiji, saying, "I am the one who is ... As we enter the new year and the new school year, let's practice Shorinji Kempo and aim for good fortune together!

*Participation in the trial session is free.

*Anyone age 6 and older is welcome to participate, even if they're not first-graders.
